Meet Green Apple

After working for many years in theatre and television production, Kate O’Donnell Diaz discovered a love for planning events but wanted to do so with a different approach from what other planners were taking.

Kate desired to help couples cultivate weddings that truly reflected them and not just what bridal magazines, their future mother-in-law or high school frenemy said they just HAD to do. The literal and financial waste she witnessed going into weddings because of something “someone” said the couple HAD to have made Kate feel incredibly uncomfortable. Kate saw a need for a more eco-friendly (that’s both ecological and economical) approach to event planning. Born in The Big Apple aka NYC, in 2008 Green Apple Weddings & Events came to...err... fruition.

Not Just Weddings

Green Apple’s reputation for creating and executing fabulous, guest experience focused weddings has led to relationships with wonderful corporate and charitable foundations. We aim to create events that not only reflect the vision of the organization, but foster socialization, communication and collaboration among the attendees culminating in memorable events for all in attendance.

Green Apple has planned, designed and coordinated hundreds of weddings & events - parties, mitzvahs, corporate, promotional, non-profit, private dinners, showers or any other kind of event that requires special attention - in New York City, Connecticut, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, Catskills, Berkshires and beyond.

Meet Kate

Director of Planning + Design

I’m a New Yorker who dreamed of being a chorus girl on Broadway and writing for Sesame Street. While those dreams didn’t quite pan out, I did work in theatre - I met my husband while working at the New York Fringe Festival - and in television production at PBS(!) before being laid off as a result of the big writer's strike of 2007. Enter the path to the creation of Green Apple. I’m happy to say that I find a bit of theatre - lights, music, costumes, stage management and yes, a little drama - every day as an event planner. When I’m not drinking Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee while travel planning (I’m ALWAYS planning something!) I can be found in the TKTS Broadway ticket line (the only time you’ll find me in Times Square) or playing board games with my son.

Meet Jen

Event Planner

I was born with Jersey in my heart and let SoCal into my soul while living the life there from 2003-2012. It wasn’t until I returned to the East Coast, that I found my true passion in Event Planning and Coordinating. I have been with Green Apple since 2014 and have fallen for the beautiful, obscure and unique locations NYC, Long Island, Hudson Valley and CT have to offer. When I'm not planning, managing or throwing my own parties, you can find me enjoying all things pop culture with the light in my life, my son.

An amazing planning duo!!! My husband and I made the smart choice of hiring Kate & Jen as our planners for our wedding weekend and we are so happy we did. They were with us every step of the way and it was so reassuring knowing we had two people who not just knew the answers to all of our questions but knew what we wanted and curated it so gracefully.
